1. Quotations
Quotations are based on information and conditions reasonably visible or known when the quotation is prepared. A quotation covers only the work specifically described within it. Additional work is not included unless expressly stated.
2. Deposits
A deposit may be required before work is scheduled, materials are ordered or other project costs are committed.
Deposits may be used towards materials, supplier commitments, scaffolding, skip hire, labour allocation, administration and other costs reasonably incurred in preparation for the work.
A deposit is not automatically refundable simply because a customer later decides not to proceed. However, deposits and cancellation charges will always be dealt with in accordance with applicable UK consumer law and any statutory cancellation rights.
3. Cancellation
Customers wishing to cancel should notify Wigan Roof Repairs as soon as possible. Cancellation rights depend upon how and where the contract was entered into and the circumstances of the transaction.
Where work has already commenced at the customer's request, the customer may be required to pay for work properly performed and costs already incurred where permitted by law.
4. Materials
Reasonable variations in colour, texture, finish, dimensions and manufacturer specification may occur between batches and manufacturers. Where an exact existing material is obsolete or unavailable, the nearest reasonably appropriate alternative may be proposed.
5. Hidden and Unforeseen Problems
Roofing work often involves defects that cannot be fully identified until existing coverings or components are removed. Hidden problems may include rotten timber, defective decking, damaged rafters, concealed leaks, historic repairs, structural movement, defective chimney masonry, water damage, ventilation issues or hazardous materials.
If significant additional work becomes necessary, Wigan Roof Repairs will normally explain the issue and any additional cost before proceeding where reasonably practicable.
6. Existing Roofs and Localised Repairs
A repair to one part of an existing roof does not constitute a guarantee of the condition of the remainder of the roof. Wigan Roof Repairs cannot accept responsibility for subsequent leaks or failures originating from areas outside the contracted work.
7. Weather and Delays
Roofing work is weather dependent. Rain, wind, snow, frost, extreme temperatures and unsafe conditions may delay work. Estimated start and completion dates are therefore estimates unless expressly guaranteed in writing.
8. Access
The customer must provide reasonable access to the property and work area for workers, vans, deliveries, scaffolding, ladders, skips, materials, tools and equipment.
9. Scaffolding
Scaffolding may remain at the property before work starts or after completion while erection or collection is coordinated. Customers must not alter, remove or interfere with scaffolding.
10. Satellite Dishes, Aerials and External Equipment
Where work requires temporary movement or removal of satellite dishes, aerials, cameras, cables, solar equipment or similar items, reasonable care will be taken. Specialist realignment or recommissioning may require a third-party specialist and may be chargeable unless specifically included.
11. Internal Decoration
Roofing work can involve vibration and movement. Wigan Roof Repairs cannot guarantee against minor cosmetic disturbance to existing internal finishes, especially where plaster or decoration is already cracked, loose or deteriorated.
12. Photographs
Wigan Roof Repairs may take photographs before, during and after work for project records, defect evidence, guarantees and aftercare. Customers may ask us not to use identifiable photographs of their property for promotional purposes.
13. Completion and Payment
Unless otherwise agreed, the remaining balance becomes payable upon completion of the contracted work. Any genuine concerns should be reported promptly so that Wigan Roof Repairs has a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, rectify them.
14. Late or Unpaid Accounts
Wigan Roof Repairs reserves the right to pursue legitimately outstanding sums through appropriate recovery procedures. Reasonable recovery costs, interest or other charges may be sought where legally permitted.
15. Guarantees
Any guarantee applies only to the work specifically identified as guaranteed. A workmanship guarantee does not normally cover problems caused by third-party work, accidental damage, storm damage, structural movement, lack of maintenance, blocked drainage, pest damage, later alterations, defects outside the contracted work or events outside our reasonable control.
16. Manufacturer Warranties
Where materials carry a manufacturer's warranty, that warranty is subject to the manufacturer's own terms, conditions and exclusions.
17. Customer-Supplied Materials
Where the customer supplies materials, Wigan Roof Repairs cannot normally guarantee their quality, suitability or performance. Additional labour caused by defective, incorrect or insufficient customer-supplied materials may be chargeable.
18. Waste
Normal roofing waste arising from contracted work will be removed where waste removal is included in the quotation. Unrelated existing waste or hazardous materials are not included unless expressly stated.
19. Planning Permission and Building Regulations
The property owner remains responsible for ensuring that required permissions, approvals or consents are obtained unless Wigan Roof Repairs expressly agrees in writing to handle a particular application or notification.
20. Neighbouring Properties
The customer should notify us of any known access restrictions, boundary issues, party-wall matters or disputes involving neighbouring properties that could affect the work.
21. Complaints and Rectification
If a customer believes there is a problem with completed work, Wigan Roof Repairs should be contacted promptly and given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, rectify the issue.
22. Website Information
Information on this website is general information and does not constitute a survey, diagnosis or quotation for a particular property. Images may be illustrative of the type of work undertaken and do not necessarily represent an identical specification for every project.
23. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the applicable laws of England and Wales. Nothing in this clause removes any mandatory consumer rights regarding jurisdiction.
24. Acceptance
Instructing Wigan Roof Repairs to proceed, accepting a written quotation, paying an agreed deposit or otherwise entering into a contract may constitute acceptance of the applicable terms supplied to the customer.
